Sign Holders

At Signs World Wide we offer a few different types of sign holders that can accommodate your plastic or aluminum sign panels. For the sake of this article we will discuss those most commonly used for mounting signs in grassy areas such as household yards. Often used for real estate, political or neighborhood signs, these lightweight and portable sign holders make getting your message across easy and effective.

Wire Stake

The wire sign stake is one of the least expensive methods of displaying a fluted coroplast sign. Set up with coroplast is quick and simple by sliding the sign stake prongs into the flutes of the sign face.

Once the sign has been mounted onto the wire stake, the stake can be pressed into the ground. If you find it difficult to get the stake into the ground, try repositioning the sign in a different area. It is also possible to dampen the ground with water to help loosen over-packed soil. Wire stakes work best with coroplast signs that are 18″h x 24″w or smaller.

Steel Angle Stake

Steel stakes are cut from angled steel that is beveled into a point on one end and punched with holes on the other to allow a screw and nut to thread through the sign and stake.

This type of sign holder offers more support for the coroplast or aluminum sign by running behind the sign acting as a brace in high winds.

It is possible to leave 1/2″ – 3/4″ of the stake protruding from the top of the sign so a hammer can be used to help drive the steel angle stake into tough ground. Steel angle sign stakes are capable of holding larger sign panels due to the angled design. For extra large signs, multiples can be used down the length of the sign.

Steel Angle Frame

The steel angle frames available at Signs World Wide offer the best in portability and durability when it comes to displaying your coroplast or aluminum sign panel. The sign panel slides in from the top and the frame gets pinched together with a nut and screw through punched holes in the top of the steel frame.

The difference between printed vinyl and die-cut vinyl decals

Before installation the difference between the two types of decals are very subtle. The difference becomes more apparent when installing and after installation.

Printed vinyl decals tend to be easier to install and essentially are like a “peel and stick” sticker. These decals are printed directly on white vinyl. This process allows the decal to have many multiple colors and can be photo realistic. This type of decal is great for photographs, gradients/shading, illustrated artwork and when many colours are needed.

Die-Cut vinyl decals can be a little trickier to install, but the end result looks like it was hand painted. This type of decal uses no background and is die-cut from pre-colored rolls of vinyl. This makes die-cut vinyl decals having a color limitation more expensive for multiple colours. Die-cut vinyl decals don’t fade in direct sunlight and are thin enough to conform to different types of textures.

Signs that Save Lives

Ok, so that title probably got your attention, but you may be wondering, how can a sign really save a life? It’s simple; take traffic signs for example. An improper or missing traffic sign at an intersection can be catastrophic. It’s easy to take for granted what a simple Stop sign is installed to do; until one is missing and two unsuspecting cars collide. Take a second and web search a phrase like “missing stop sign causes accident” and see how many results pop up. Decals

Decals

Have a surface that needs a message attached? It might be a good job for the trusty decal!
Inexpensive and durable, decals have become a sign staple for small scale advertising.

Decals, also known as stickers, are a thin vinyl film with an adhesive backing. The decals come attached to a backing paper that keeps the adhesive clean until you are ready to apply it (think bumper sticker).

Some decals will be a printed image on a rectangle while others will be die cut into individual pieces.

The die cut decals will come with a temporary “transfer tape” that keep the vinyl decals aligned while it is applied to the desired surface. Once the decal has been applied, the transfer tape can be removed leaving only the individual decals behind (Refer to our Blog on “vinyl application instructions” for more information on vinyl installation). You may also receive larger one piece decals with transfer tape as well. Larger decals can be difficult for inexperienced users to install. The transfer tape will keep the decal stiff while it is being applied. As in the die cut decals, the transfer tape can safely be removed once it has been successfully applied.

Opaque White vs. Reflective

Most decals will be an opaque white, but reflective is an option as well. If you need your message to be seen at night, reflective vinyl decals are a good choice. Light from headlights or other ambient sources will reflect off of the metallic particles inside the decal and make your message stand out well against the dark area surrounding the decal.
